We named this "Medusa" Basket because of its intricate curved design all around it. This basket is made with natural and dyed pine needles and woven with natural and dyed raffia. This is the basket that everyone will be talking about!

Our pine needle baskets make beautiful wedding presents or gifts for the home. The talented artists who make them, go out together often to distant places, looking for the longest pine needles they can find and carry them back home. If the designs call for it, they dye some of the pine needles and/or the raffia they use to put the basket together. Many of our baskets combine both colored and natural pine needles and raffia. It takes several days to complete a basket. Mayan Hands weavers learned pine needle basketry a few years ago, from Michele Hament, a basket artist from San Francisco who came down to teach a workshop. Soon after they learned, the women started creating their own designs and shapes. By now they have become masters of the trade, offering a great variety of styles. Our baskets will bring the fragrance of pine trees to your home!
